IPL Intense Pulse Light (IPL) Photofacial at The Eye Care & Surgery Center in New Jersey

About The IPL Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial
The IPL Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial is one of the non-invasive cosmetic facial procedures we offer at The Eye Care & Surgery Center to help you maintain a youthful appearance and look your best with no downtime. The IPL Photofacial can provide dramatic improvements in skin conditions without downtime and with minimal discomfort. The IPL Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial is very effective on red blemishes that originate from broken blood vessels and capillaries, rosacea, and brown pigment blemishes, or hyper pigmentation, in the form of freckles, age spots, and other sun damage.

The IPL Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial uses only certain specific wavelengths of an intense light spectrum in order to treat specific “target” conditions of the skin while light energy is turned into heat energy. The pigment in the target tissue is fragmented and absorbed without damage to the surrounding tissue. In addition, new collagen deposition is stimulated, leaving the skin with smoother texture, while brown and red spots disappear and broken veins close.

The IPL Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial Procedure
During the procedure, the lens of the IPL wand is guided onto your skin section by section, covering your face with light pulses. The actual IPL Photofacial procedure feels like the mild snapping of rubber bands against the skin's surface. With each snap, the IPL Photofacial light penetrates deep below the skin's surface to treat the issues at the source.  For successful elimination of redness, sun spots and old acne scars, a patient will likely require multiple IPL Photofacial treatments. The Photofacial can truly create a marked difference in the patient's skin over time, since the skin continues to improve for weeks after the actual IPL treatment.

After The IPL Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial Procedure
Immediately following an IPL Photofacial, a patient is free to resume his or her daily activities. Each IPL Photofacial treatment is usually quick and takes only about twenty to thirty minutes from start to finish. For this reason, many patients seamlessly integrate their IPL Photofacial into their lives by getting treatments during their lunch hour. A brief period of facial redness is the most common side effect of the IPL Photofacial, although the redness typically subsides within an hour or so. Two to four treatments three weeks apart are needed for optimum results. Some discoloration may be seen in the area immediately following the treatment. Within one to three weeks the lesion gradually flakes off. The results of your IPL will be visible within a few days of the first treatment, and improve with each successive treatment. You can expect to see a gradual natural looking improvement with smoother, more evenly pigmented skin over the course of your treatments.
